Half Term Fun in Battersea

Half Term Fun in Battersea

2018-10-19
| by Editor | Posted in Battersea Events, Battersea for Children

Half term is upon us already, where did the time go? Luckily, there’s plenty going on in Battersea this week, so we thought we’d round up a few half term highlights...

For starters, Circus West Village at Battersea Power Station are bringing back their hugely popular Storystock event - 'a travelling circus of literary adventures for children'. For younger children, the Peter Rabbit And Friends live show promises to be great fun, or you could opt for a more laid back feel, get cosy and settle in for a reading of children’s classics Mog and The Tiger Who Came To Tea.  For slightly older kids who enjoy a singalong, there’s a Greatest Showman singing workshop whilst budding ‘authors to be’ will love the creative writing workshop with All Write Now. And for the Potter fans amongst you (adults and kids alike!) make sure to check out the Harry Potter live show (Wednesday 24th Oct). Tickets to all the above events are available here.

Did someone say marmalade?! Biscuiteers, on Northcote Road, are holding a Paddington Bear icing party, with various sessions taking place on Thursday 25th October. Guaranteed to be fun packed, each hour long session includes colouring in, face painting and biscuit icing. Bear costumes optional!

For the culture vultures amongst you, Battersea Arts Centre are currently playing ‘I Wish I Was a Mountain’ for children 6 and over. A show told with rhyme, live music, and BIG questions, I Wish I Was a Mountain boldly re-imagines Herman Hesse's classic fairytale. You can find out more and book tickets here.

Fingers crossed the recent warm weather holds as there's heaps going on at Battersea Park Children’s Zoo, with a Pumpkin Quiz TrailSnake DayHedgehog Day and Creepy Crawlies Day (although count us out of that one, ekk!). To top it all off, Boo at the Zoo day embraces the Halloween spirit, inviting kids to come dressed up as witches, monsters, pumpkins and zombies. There’s also face painting, 'Spooky Story time' and puppet making.

Finally, York Gardens Community Centre are running a Design and Decorate Your Plates and Cups workshop from 10am-12pm on Wednesday 24th October, whilst the Yvonne Carr Children's Centre have a family fun day on Friday 26th October from 1.00-3.30pm. Call or visit their websites for more details.
